California traffic appeal?

should i appeal a speeding ticket? i made a informal request to chp for the discovery but never received it in time for trial. the judge didnt care because i never filed "motion to compel" also, he never didnt want to see any of my supporting documents for my defense. was my rights ignored and should i appeal?
